GUCCI STUDDED ZIP-UP PEEP-TOE BOOTIES

As mentioned before, studs make me weak in the knees. If you're shiny and round and come in mass quantities on one accessory, you've got me sold. If you're an ankle bootie as well, I'm even more happy. If you come in black leather and look good with all black ensembles, I mean really, will you marry me? Oh wait, you're a peep-ankle bootie too? I didn't even know that was legal.

My pals over at Gucci decided to make my dreams come true with these babies in Fall 2008. The moment I saw these in a Vogue editorial, I ripped them out and posted them on the bulletin board above my computer, just so I could stare and daydream about the thought of one day being the bad ass girl with these kicks on my feet. I had never seen them in any store, not even the Gucci flagship store in Beverly Hills. I literally had only seen them in this one editorial and there was no phone number provided to find them. But alas, I'm the queen of shopping research and knew I could find em'. Nope. I couldn't! So I turned to the one who does it best- the Queen Bee of online shopping- my mom, Jane Thomas. You could send this woman a low-res camera phone picture of anything and she'll find it online on three different retail sites in 30 seconds flat. And have it shipped 10 seconds later! She's phenomenal, and quite amazing to watch.

So, low and behold, she finds them at one of the local retail stores in the Palisades, Elyse Walker. Christmas 2008 was around the corner and they were the only thing on my list that year. Literally, these were all I wanted. My friend who was working at Elyse Walker put them on hold, and told me that my mom came in to check them out. So I was like "Yeah?! Well did she buy them?!" He told me no, she bought these other ankle booties instead...

I mean, that's ok? I love ankle booties, right?? I mean I'm sure I can find a knock off of these totally sweet peep-toe zip-up double grommetted and studded ankle-less Gucci booties, right? Let's be real here, I was a little sad, but hey, they were still on my bulletin board and I could still stare at them somewhere all day, just not on my feet.

Christmas rolls around and I open all of my wonderful gifts. Thinking that I've opened them all, I get up to make some tea in the kitchen and when I come back in the room, I see a big ol' rectangular present sitting on the couch. I immediately know what it is, and as I rip the paper and the lid off, I see them in their studded amazigness and squeal with joy. I put them on and didn't take them off for a week straight, I'm sure I even slept with them on. What a great Xmas surprise, Santa aka Mom, you rock.
