YVES SAINT LAURENT VELVET LACE-UP HEEL

I will say this, I love shoes but you will rarely see me in pumps or heels or anything of the sort. I'm just not into them as much. But there are a few tiny little exceptions and these YSL's are most definitely one of them.

Before I avidly studied every runway show each season (aka before the days of Style.com haha),I would get all my trend reports from Vogue. My mom got Vogue every month, so in 10th grade this was my main source of all things fashion. Yves Saint Laurent's Fall 2002 Runway show was featured and blew my mind away. It was the first time that I really realized how genius Tom Ford is and how major the color black can be.

Spring 2003: I went to Italy to visit my cousin Rachel who had been studying abroad in Florence. We ate, we drank, we danced, and we shopped. Boy, did we shop. Rachel brought us to this outlet mall filled with every designer store you could imagine. Oh and everything was 90% off. I mean, I still have dreams of going back to this place it was that good. I stocked up on so many shoes, but it was these Velvet Lace-Up YSL shoes that have stood the test of time. I didn't fully understand that these were "the shoes" to have that season, so looking at them now, I just laugh to myself at the kind of fluke purchase they were. My taste in shoes back in 02' was questionable, but these kicks are classic and have proved to be literally one of the only pair of heels I wear to this day.
